BOSTON – Suffolk women's basketball poured in the points in its first game of the year to take down Nichols, 101-46, Friday night at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was Suffolk from the get go as the Rams put the first six points on the board. That lead quickly doubled, 12-5, and before you knew it the blue-and-gold was up, 28-12, at the end of the first 10 minutes.
A monster second stanza saw Suffolk score 26 and limit the Bison to just six to make things lopsided, 54-32, at half time.
The third frame turned into a back and forth affair, but thanks to the hefty lead at half, the Rams remained in front by 24, 77-53.
Suffolk took care of business in the fourth, scoring when necessary, and limiting Nichols chances to walk away with the 101-46 victory.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Nine Rams produced a point and eight put up double-digit numbers.
- Natalie Fraioli's stat line was impressive with an 11-rebound, 10-point double-double effort that include one assist and one takeaway.
- Jenni-Rose DiCecco also a double-double. The floor general registered 15 points, 11 dimes, six caroms, two steals and one swat.
- Allie Lopes' 17-points behind a 5-for-10 effort from three-point land led the scoring charge. The junior added three boards, three assists and one block.
- Gabriella DeComo and Rachel LaSaracina each chipped in 12 points, Sydney Richard and Skylar Rojik had 11 points apiece, and Amanda DeAngelis had 10 points in her collegiate debut.
- Suffolk shot 45.7 percent (37-81) from the field and 54.1 percent (20-37) from downtown.
- The Rams outrebounded the Bison, 57-35.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk opened its season on its home hardwood, Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for the third straight year.
- The win marks the first time Suffolk secured a victory on game one of the season in back-to-back years since 2015-16 and 2016-17. Those wins were part of a six-season stretch in which the blue-and-gold began the campaign in the win column from 2011-16.
- The blue-and-gold moves to 20-18 all-time on opening day and 16-11 under Ed Leyden's leadership in the first game of the campaign.
- Suffolk is now 2-2 when playing its season opener at home.
- The Rams and Nichols met in game one for of Suffolk's schedule for the first time.
- Suffolk and the Bison renewed a rivalry, meeting for the first time since December 6, 2012 and 20th time overall.
- The Rams rattled off their fifth straight win against Nichols to cut the Bison's all-time series lead to 11-9.
- Suffolk improved to 7-5 versus Nichols in Boston.
- The 101 offensive output mark is the third time in program history that Suffolk hit the 100-point mark. The last time Suffolk scored 100-plus points was in a 103-95 double overtime victory against Albertus Magnus Feb. 25, 2020.
- Fraioli had her first collegiate double-double and had a personal-best 11 caroms.
- DiCecco notched her seventh career double-double and had a career-high 11 assists.
- LaSaracina produced career-best numbers in three-point field goals made (4), points (12), and assists (4).
- Rojik logged career-highs in field goals made (5), three-point field goals made (1), points (11) and steals (4).
- DeAngelis made her collegiate debut, while Richard played her first game in a Suffolk jersey.
