BOSTON – Suffolk women's basketball turns its attention to GNAC action this weekend when it lifts the lid on its conference calendar against Saint Joseph (Conn.) Saturday, Jan. 11. The Rams and Blue Jays will battle at Emerson's Bobbi Brown & Steven Plofker Gym at 4:00 p.m.

Suffolk women's basketball saw its four-game win streak end Thursday night as Christina Antonakaki's near record-setting performance for the Engineers anchored MIT's 66-44 victory at Emerson's Bobbi Brown & Steven Plofker Gym.

RAMS REVIEW
Suffolk's three-game win streak ended Thursday night by the hands of MIT, 66-44. With that setback, the Rams dipped to 8-4 on the season.  

Jenni-Rose DiCecco is the lone player producing double-digits when it comes to scoring with 16.1 ppg to anchor the 64.7 ppg effort. Alexis Hackett (9.7 ppg), Gabriella DeComo (9.5 ppg), Jordan Hipwell (7.0 ppg) and Allie Lopes (7.0 ppg) are all consistent contributors to the offense as well. 

Hackett has held down the 40.1 rpg effort with the senior grabbing 9.5 rpg. Emilly Welling pulls down 5.8 rpg and DiCecco rounds out the top three threats on the glass with 4.8 rpg to her credit. 

GNAC OPENERS

  • Suffolk will open its 25th and final season of GNAC action Saturday. 
  • The Rams are 17-7 in the first conference contest of the season, all of which have come under head coach Ed Leyden
  • The blue-and-gold will open conference competition at a neutral site for the first time in program history. 
  • Last season, the Rams defeated USJ, 57-45, in its first league outing of the year.

The Rams and Blue Jays will meet in Suffolk's first GNAC game for the second straight season. 

BLUE JAYS BREAKDOWN
USJ strung its second straight win together Thursday night, a 66-36 decision over Northern Vermont Johnson, to move to 8-4 on the year.  

The Blue Jays' 61.0 ppg offense is led by the pair of Silvana Barcomb and Cheyenne-Mone Smith who provide double-digits in scoring with 10.6 ppg and 10.3 ppg, respectively. Raelynn Voislow supplies 9.3 ppg to the scoring cause as well.  

Smith's 8.2 rpg paces the pack on the glass with the team bringing down 43.7 rpg. Voislow adds 4.8 rpg and Lindsey Montminy chips in 4.7 rpg. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk has taken down Saint Joseph (Conn.) in 14 straight meetings, to hold a 21-2 all-time advantage in the series, which dates back to 1997.

Suffolk remains in conference contests Thursday, Jan. 16 when it entertains Albertus Magnus at Emmanuel's Andy Yosinoff Court at 7:00 p.m.
