
MILTON, Mass. – Suffolk women's basketball ran its win streak to three with a 63-47 victory over Curry Tuesday night at Katz Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Out of a four-all tie, Suffolk built a four-point edge after the first frame, 14-10, that turned into an eight-point cushion at half time, 29-21.
Alexis Hackett put in the first bucket in the third quarter that stretch the blue-and-gold's edge to 10, 31-21. A scoring lull hit the Rams that allowed the Colonels to climb within two 31-29 at the midway point of the stanza.
Jordan Hipwell got Suffolk's offense going as the junior's layup sparked an 8-2 Rams' run that rebuilt a double-digit distance, 41-31.
After a pair of freebies by Kaitlynn Smith, Jenni-Rose DiCecco wrapped up the quarter with five points that made it a 46-33 Suffolk game.
In the fourth quarter Emily Welling took over. The sophomore sunk 10 points over a 4:18 span that gave the Rams a two-point cushion, 56-36.
The Colonels took advantage of another scoring shortage for Suffolk to pull back within 10, 56-46, with 2:15 left on the scoreboard.
Two quick hoops Lily Patneaude, a layup by Hipwell and a free throw by DiCecco down the stretch sealed the deal for the blue-and-gold.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- DiCecco registered a game-high 20 points behind an 8-for-11 showing from the field and 3-for-6 connection rate from down. The floor general added four steals, three assists and three boards.
- Hackett filled up the stat sheet with 14 caroms, seven points, four handouts, two blocks and two takeaways.
- Hipwell had 11 points, six rebounds and three helpers.
- Welling added a burst off the bench with 11 points and three rebounds.
- Suffolk shot just 38.3 percent (23-60) from the field, 28.6 percent from behind-the-arc (6-21) and 52.4 percent (11-24) at the charity stripe.
- The Rams outrebounded the Colonels, 43-30.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk rattled off its fourth straight win over Curry to move to 17-15 all-time against the Colonels.
- Hackett has grabbed double digit rebounds in five of the Rams' six games this season.
- DiCecco notched 20-plus points for the second straight game.
- Welling recorded a personal-best in points (11) and free throws made (5).
