BOSTON – The Suffolk women's basketball team opens Rams' basketball doubleheader Saturday, Feb. 2 at Regan Gymnasium at 1 p.m. against cross town and conference rival Simmons. The men's team concludes the action at 3 p.m. versus Colby Sawyer. Prior to both contests, Suffolk will honor the playing careers of the members of the Class of 2019. The women will recognize Marissa Gudauskasand Shannon Smith.

DOUBLEFEATURE
For the second time this season Suffolk's men's and women's squads will tip-off inside Regan Gymnasium on the same day. This year, the women's team is 0-1 when playing in a doubleheader with the Rams' men's team. 

LAST TIME OUT
Jenni-Rose DiCeccoand Jordan Hipwelleach registered double-double efforts to power the Suffolk women's basketball team to a 69-41 victory over Pine Manor Wednesday night at Brunelli Court. The win, which capped off non-league action, marked head coach Ed Leyden's 400th at Suffolk University.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk enters the weekend 16-5 overall and 7-1 against conference counterparts after stringing back-to-back wins together including a 69-41 triumph at Pine Manor in its last outing. 

The Rams have been propelled by the sophomore, junior tandem of Jenni-Rose DiCecco and Alexis Hackett. DiCecco is the main ingredient to the blue-and-gold's 67.3 ppg offense as the floor general supplies 16.8 ppg and 4.5 apg. Hackett, meanwhile, contributes on both ends of the hardwood and averages a double-double effort of 11.9 ppg and 11.5 rpg. DiCecco chips in 5.7 rpg to Suffolk's 41.0 rpg effort. 

Allie Lopes adds a spark to Suffolk's offense with 10.1 ppg. Jordan Hipwell also chips in to both sides of the ball with 8.4 ppg and 4.7 rpg. 

SHARKS SAYINGS
Simmons makes the short trip to Beacon Hill after taking down St. Joseph (Conn.), 76-59, Tuesday night to move to 5-15 on the year and 2-5 in league contests. 

Cassandra Stapelfeld is a powerful offensive force for the Sharks as the guard produces 22.1 ppg on a 44.2 connection rate from the floor. Rebekah Carroll also records double figures in points with 10.4 ppg to her credit. The sophomore, senior pair paces Simmons' 61.8 ppg effort.  

A trio of student-athletes notch nearly four rebounds per game to anchor the team's 26.9 rpg performance in Molly Phillips (4.3 rpg), Carroll (4.1 rpg) and Lauren Brandau (4.0 rpg). 

INSIDE THE SERIES

• The Suffolk, Simmons rivalry is one of the oldest in the Rams' history, dating back to 1984. 
• The blue-and-gold has rattled off nine consecutive wins over its Boston and conference rival to take a 24-3 all-time series lead.
