DiCecco Named GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – After a stellar start to her collegiate career, which featured 14.0 ppg, 4.7 apg and 3.3 rpg in a 2-1 week for the Rams, Suffolk women's basketball's Jenni-Rose DiCecco has been named GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

In the season opener at Salve Regina, DiCecco led Suffolk's offense with a 21-point effort to go along with three boards, a pair of steals and one handout.

To open action at the Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament, the floor general from Falmouth, Massachusetts, dished out nine dimes, while shed scored 10 points herself as she did not miss from the floor, going 4-for-4 and 2-for-2 from downtown, to help the Rams capture their first win of the season, a convincing 90-45 decision over Saint Joseph's (Brooklyn).

The 5-foot-6 guard kept her double digit point streak going in the championship game over Ramapo, dropping 11 points and provided four caroms and helpers, respectively, and a career-high three takeaways to help Suffolk secure the Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament title.

DiCecco takes home her first collegiate weekly award and is the first Ram to earn the honor this season.

Suffolk and DiCecco will play on its home court, the Michael & Larry Smith Court, inside Regan Gymnasium for the first time in 2017-18 Tuesday, Nov. 21 as the Rams entertain Colby Sawyer at 6 p.m.
