Hackett Earns Fifth GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week Accolade

BOSTON – For the fifth time this season, Alexis Hackett of the Suffolk women's basketball team has been named GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. The honor comes on the heels of a 3-0 week for the Rams, which extended the blue-and-gold's win streak to five and saw Hackett average 13.7 ppg and 8.3 rpg.

The Charlton, Massachusetts local got the week going with a powerful performance leading a fourth-quarter comeback for Suffolk at Anna Maria. The freshman poured in 12 final frame points to push the Rams over the AMCATS, 66-59. She finished the night with a career-best 18, shooting 3-for-9 from the floor and a perfect 10-for-10 at the line including six over the final two minutes. She added one assist, one board and one steal to her effort.

In the Rams' home debut of 2017, a 71-53 triumph over Albertus Magnus, Hackett provided her first collegiate double-double effort of 13 points and 14 caroms, 13 of which were on the defensive end. She also contributed three assists, one takeaway and one swat.

To conclude the week, Hackett and the Rams ran past Mount Ida, 81-50. In 16 minutes of action, the 5-for-11 swing player registered 10 points, shooting 40 percent (4-10) from the field and pulled down six boards.

The weekly honor adds to Hackett's growing total, which also includes a New England Basketball Association Rookie of the Week accolade on Dec. 12.

Hackett and the Rams take their streak onto the road this evening when they visit Norwich for a 7 p.m. GNAC tip-off.
