BOSTON – The Suffolk women's basketball team will make its eighth ECAC New England Championship appearance Saturday and vie for its first crown as the third-seeded Rams tips off against the tournament's host and second seed Western New England. The semifinal game is scheduled for 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
After falling behind by nine before the half, the Suffolk women's basketball team failed to make a comeback as it dropped a 74-58 decision to top-seeded Saint Joseph's College in the semifinal round of the 2016 GNAC Tournament February 25.

The effort was led by junior Kelsey Schiebel who fueled the Suffolk offense with a team-high 15 points, shooting 60 percent (6-10) from the floor, as well as from behind the arc (3-5), while also adding five rebounds and five assists.

Alexandra Clarke and Georgia Bourikas also finished in double digits pouring in 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Alessandra Quadri led the Rams in rebounds with seven boards.

RUNDOWN ON THE RAMS

• Suffolk though it's season came to a close at 17-10 overall after wrapping up the GNAC regular season in fourth place, however, the Rams look to add to the season win total in their eighth ECAC New England Tournament appearance this weekend.
• The Rams put in 65.6 ppg this season, shooting 36.7 percent from the field, 30.9 from long range and 66.3 at the line. Suffolk has depended on its 47.4 rpg and a 4.3 rebounding margin to capture the win in close contests.
• Chelsea Campellone has been Suffolk's offensive and defensive leader this season as the senior averages a double-double effort (14.7 ppg, 10.1 rpg.
•  Georgia Bourikas adds 10.5 ppg and 4.6 rpg off the bench and Alessandra Quadri contributes 9.9 ppg and 5.5 rpg.

WATCH ON WESTERN NEW ENGLAND

• The Golden Bears sat nearly at the .500 mark at the midway point of the season before going 8-2 the rest of the way to earn the No. 2 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conferece Tournament. WNE defeated Salve Regina and Roger Williams to advance to the title game, but fell to top-seeded to the University of New England.
• Chelsea Vujs, the CCC Player of the Year, finished the regular season with 15.9 ppg, 8.2 rpg and 3.2 apg. Emily Anderson and Dorothy O'Neil, who also garnered all-conference accolades, also provide a spark for the Golden Bears. Anderson, who transferred to WNE after her freshman year with Suffolk, knocked down 38.1 percent from 3-point land, while O'Neill has started all 28 games for the Golden Bears, averaging 9.7 points, 4.0 assists and 3.1 boards per outing.
• Three different Cadets average double digits led by Heather LeBlanc's 14.0. Shyann Josler is not far behind in second with 13.2 ppg and Arianna Harrison rounds out the trio with 11.6 ppg.
• LeBlanc also steps up defensively with the junior forward pulling down 10.6 rpg.

CAMPELLONE ALL-CONFERENCE
Chelsea Campellone put together a highlight senior season capped off by a GNAC distinction as the forward was named to the All-GNAC second team.

Katie Murray was recognized for her outstanding dedication to sportsmanship and for her portrayal of good sportsmanship, fair play and a positive attitude with a spot on the GNAC's All-Sportsmanship Team.

CLARKE ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Following a 12-point and nine-rebound semifinal round performance, Suffolk women's basketball junior Alexandra Clarke was named to the 2016 GNAC All-Tournament Team.
