Women's Basketball Cruise With 73-54 Win on Saturday

Senior Iliana Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) tallied 21 points to lead all scorers as the Suffolk University Women's Basketball team defeated Simmons College 73-54 on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

The victory moves Suffolk to a 6-2 record in conference play heading into the final week of the 2014-15 regular season.

Suffolk never trailed through the entirety of the 40 minute contest as Quadri put them up early scoring 12 points in the first half on 5-for-10 shooting from the field giving Suffolk a 43-24 lead going into halftime.

Sophomore Kelsey Schiebel (Windham, N.H.) was 3-for-6 from three-point land en route to a 17-point effort to help pace the offense. Quadri was also 4-for-6 from beyond the arc as Suffolk shot at a 52.9-percent clip as team in the contest from three-point land.

Sophomore Liz Brasa (East Hartford, Conn.) led the Sharks on the afternoon with a 13-point game shooting at a 5-for-10 clip from the field.

The setback drops Simmons to a 5-17 overall record on the year and 1-8 standing in GNAC play. They will be back in action on Tuesday evening when they host Norwich University at 7:00pm.

Suffolk will be back in action on Tuesday evening when they host St. Joseph's College of Maine at the Regan Gymnasium at 5:30pm.

Prior to Saturday's game Iliana Quadri alongside her family was recognized for scoring her 1000th career point back on February 3rd.
