Women's Basketball Collect Third Straight Win

The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team collected their third win of the week as they held on to defeat Anna Maria College 64-60 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Iliana Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) led all scorers with 21 points in the victory, her third straight contest as Suffolk leading point getter to move the Rams to a 6-10 overall record and 3-1 mark in GNAC play.

After opening the second half with a 13-point deficit, the host AMCATS put together a 16-4 run to cut the lead to one point at 45-44 when freshman Kristina Russo (South Windsor, Conn.) sunk a free-throw with 13 minutes remaining.

Freshman Alexandra Nagri (Salem, N.H.) would space the Rams back out by four when she knocked down three of her nine points in the game.

Both teams would continue to trade baskets over the next few minutes until senior Katie Pryor (Whitinsville, Mass.) put Anna Maria up for the first time in the second half with 3:39 remaining.

Nagri would answer again as she connected on a layup to evening things back up.

After Anna Maria once again grabbed the lead, sophomore Kelsey Schiebel (Windham, N.H.) would put Suffolk up for good as she connected on one of her game-high four three pointers in the contest.

Schiebel would later go to the line with twenty-six seconds knocking down one of two free throws, before Quadri closed out the game connecting on a pair more from the charity stripe.

Schiebel finished the game with 13 points, including a 4-for-9 performance from three-point land. She also led all players with five assists.

Junior Alessandra Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) recorded a double-double in the victory as she also tallied 13 points and had 10 rebounds. Junior Chelsea Campellone (Fall River, Mass.) finished with a team-high 12 boards.

Suffolk will be back in action on Thursday evening as they travel to GNAC foe Emmanuel College at 7:00pm.
