Women's Basketball Set for San Juan Shootout

The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team will be back in action on Sunday December 28 when they fly to Puerto Rico as part of the San Juan Shootout. The trip will be the program's second in program history outside the United States (Bahamas, 2003).

The 2014-15 season has gotten off to a slow start for Suffolk as they ended the first semester with a 2-5 overall record.

Senior Iliana Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) is on pace to become just the 13th player in program history to reach the 1,000 career point plateau as she needs 154  points to hit the milestone. Quadri is currently averaging 9.9 points per game so far this season for Suffolk.

Senior Shelby Santini (Winchester, Mass.) has been Suffolk's most consistent player this season on both sides of the floor. The senior forward currently leads the team averaging 12.2 points per game, while she is second in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a 2.0 blocks per game average on the year.

Sophomore Kelsey Schiebel (Windham, N.H.) is currently ranked fourth among all NCAA Division-III players shooting at a 55.2-percent (16-for-29) mark from the three-point line. Schiebel currently averages 7.9 points per game.

Suffolk will take on Marietta College in the tournament opener on the 28th at 2:00pm, before playing Wellesley College on the 29th at 1:00pm.

Suffolk will be back at home on Monday January 12 when they host Curry College at the Regan Gymnasium at 7:00pm.

They'll open up their GNAC conference schedule on the 17th with a rematch of last year's GNAC Quarterfinals when they host Johnson & Wales University at 3:00pm.
