Framingham State Slips Past Women's Basketball 66-58

The Framingham State University Women's Basketball team scored 13 straight points in the final three minutes of regulation to take a 66-58 victory over Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Sophomore Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) scored seven of her game's 14 points in the closing minutes to help move Framingham to a 5-2 overall record on the season.

Senior Johanna Annunziata (Auburn, Mass.) led all players with 19 points as she was 4-for-8 from beyond the arc in the contest.

Senior Shelby Santini (Winchester, Mass.) finished with a team-high 17 points in the setback for Suffolk who now fall to a 2-5 mark heading into the winter holiday break.

Suffolk would take a 32-27 lead heading into halftime.

Three and a half minutes into the second period freshman Lauren Donahue (Attleboro, Mass.) connected on a three-pointer to put Framingham back up for a brief 36-35 lead.

Sophomore Kelsey Schiebel (Windham, N.H.) would connect on a pair of three pointers of her own to put Suffolk back up on top 43-37.

Three consecutive free throws by sophomore Alexandra Clarke (Boothbay Harbor, Me.) would give Suffolk a six-point lead with six minutes remaining at 54-48. Junior Tori Brillaud (North Andover, Mass.) would score with 3:11 remaining to make it a 58-53 lead.

Senior Margo McCarthy (Southampton, Mass.) got Framingham going when she knocked a three-pointer at the three minute marker. McCarthy would finish with 11 point in the victory.

Rackliffe would connect on a pair of layups and also add a pair of free throws while Annunziata knocked down three shots from the line to seal the victory for Framingham.

Rackliffe narrowly missed a double-double finishing with a team-high nine rebounds to go along with her 14 points.

Suffolk held a slight 52 to 47 edge in rebounds in the contest as Clarke led all players with 13 boards in the game. She finished just shy of a double-double as she also added eight points.

Shiebel finished with nine points on 3-for-4 shooting from beyond the arc for Suffolk.

Framingham will be back in action on Tuesday evening when they host MIT at 6:00pm.

Suffolk will be idle until December 28 when they travel to Puerto Rico as part of the San Juan Shootout. Suffolk will take on Marietta College that Sunday with a 2:00pm tip-off.
