Campellone's Big Second Half Leads Women's Basketball to 60-53 Victory

Senior Iliana Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) led all scorers with 18 points to lead the Suffolk University Women's basketball team to a 60-53 road victory over Roger Williams University on Tuesday evening.

Quadri was 4-for-7 from three-point land, while junior Chelsea Campellone (Fall River, Mass.) narrowly missed a double-double as she led all players with nine rebounds and added 12 points off the bench in the win for the Rams.

It was a back and forth first half that saw the Hawks take a 26-24 lead heading into the break. Roger Williams would hold the lead for the majority of the second half until sophomore Gena Restiano (Revere, Mass.) nailed a three-pointer with 5:17 remaining to bring Suffolk within a point at 45-44. Campellone would add a layup and then sink a free-throw to put Suffolk up by a pair fifty seconds later. Campellone's three-point play would give Suffolk their first lead of the contest.

After junior Angelica Ariola (Prospect, Conn.) connected on a pair of free-throws for the Hawks to even the game, senior Shelby Santini (Winchester, Mass.) would sink two of her own would give the Rams back the lead which they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.

Campellone would close out the victory for Suffolk scoring nine of her game's 12 points in the final 2:09 of the contest.

Ariola finished the game with a team-high 16 points for Roger Williams. The loss drops Roger Williams to a 2-3 mark.

The Hawks held a significant advantage on the glass in the game outrebounding Suffolk 56-36 which they converted for 23 second chance points.

Suffolk finished the game shooting at a 46.7-percent (7-for-15) shooting clip from beyond the arc.

The win moves Suffolk to a 2-3 overall record.

Suffolk will be idle until Thursday December 4 when they travel to Fitchburg State for a 7:00pm tip-off.
