Women's Basketball Fall to Ramapo 60-58

The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team fell in the championship game to host Ramapo College, 60-58 on Saturday afternoon.

Alex Milne made a jumpshot with four seconds remaining for the game-winner to top the Rams who travelled to New Jersey to start the 2012-13 season. Milne scored the final four points of the game as host Ramapo claims the 2012 Roadrunner Invitational.

Junior Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn.) led all scorers with 16 points on an 8-for-12 performance from the field, but it was an 8-0 run by the host Roadrunners that overcame the Rams.

Senior Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) scored 13 points, added nine assists and had four rebounds, while sophomore Iliana Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) also chipped in with 13 points for the Rams.

The Rams held the advantange shooting 45-percent from the field as a team with a 25-for-55 effort and outrebounded the Roadrunners, 38-32. Strong defense however by Ramapo proved the be the difference as the Roadrunners collected 22 Suffolk turnovers and were also sent to the free-throw line 27 times in the game, compared to just five for the Rams.

Freshman Katie Murray (Holden, Mass.) chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds in the contest for Suffolk.

Suffolk will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Roger Williams University for a 6:00pm non-conference matchup.
