Vienneau Scores a Season-High In Rams Victory

The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team (10-5, 3-1 GNAC) topped the Lasell College Lasers (1-14, 1-4 GNAC), 63-50 on Monday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

Junior Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) scored a season-high 20 points on 8-for-12 shoooting from the field, including a perfect 4-for-4 performance from three-point land to propel the Rams to improve their season record to 10-5 and a 3-1 mark in GNAC play this season.

The Rams finished with four scorers in double-digits in the game, led by Vienneau. Seniors Meghan Black (Roslindale, Mass.) and Mary Garon (Auburn, N.H.) each had 11 points, while sophomore Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn.) poured in 12 points.

The Rams took a five-point lead into the half with a 24-19 edge, but a 19-6 run to open the first eight minutes of the second half gave Suffolk the decided edge in the game. Vienneau and Black would combine for 27 of Suffolk's 39 second half points to propel them to victory.

Freshman Alexis Chappell (Springfield, Mass.) led the Lasers with 14 points and eight rebounds despite being in foul trouble for most of the contest. Freshman Justine Ryan (Norwood, Mass.) also scored 10 points for the Laers.

Both teams will be back in GNAC action this upcoming Wednesday evening. Lasell travel to Mount Ida College to take on the Mustangs at 6:00pm. Suffolk will travel to Simmons College to take on the Sharks at 7:00pm.
