Women's Basketball Posts Another Road Win

The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team (6-2 overall) picked up a 52-37 victory over the Nichols College Bison (1-6 overall) on Thursday evening. The Rams have now picked up five victories in six road games this season as they improve to a 6-2 overall mark on the season.

Senior Mary Garon (Auburn, N.H.) and junior Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) each scored 13 points to pace the Rams to victory. Vienneau was 5-for-8 from the field as Suffolk combined on 44-percent shooting as a team for their second consecutive victory of the week.

The Rams faced little trouble in the victory as Vienneau connected on one of her two three-pointers in the game with two minutes remaining in the first half to stake the Rams to a ten point lead at 22-12. Garon would follow up with a layup with two seconds remaining in the opening period as Suffolk took a 24-12 lead into the half. The Bison struggled in the opening half as they only connected on five shots from the field in 32 attempts.

Freshman Tori Brillaud (North Andover, Mass.) had a team high seven rebounds in the contest as the Rams held a slight edge in the game in rebounds at 39-35, but it was their work on the defensive side that helped them as they grabbed 30 defensive rebounds as the Bison only shot 27-percent as a team from the field in the contest.

The Rams will be back in action on Saturday afternoon in their final game before the winter break as they travel to Endicott College to take on the Gulls at 3:00pm.
