The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team (12-6) extended their winning streak to six games topping the Newbury College Nighthawks (8-11), 85-53 on Monday evening at Hellenic College in Brookline, Mass.

Junior Mary Garon (Auburn, N.H.) led the Rams with 13 points as she was 3-for-5 from three-point land as the Rams improve to 12-6 on the season. Junior Meghan Black (Roslindale, Mass.) collected 12 points as five assists, while sophomore Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) had 10 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Catherine Carey (Reading, Mass.) netted a season-high 11 points off the bench for the Rams, while freshman Jessica Bard (Harleysville, Pa.) had a season-high in rebounds with 10.

For the third straight game the Rams reached the 40-point scoring plateau in the first half as Suffolk outscored the Nighthawks 44-25 in the first twenty minutes of play.  Black and sophomore Elizabeth Roemelle (Trumbull, Conn.) each scored nine points in the first period. Roemelle was a perfect 4-for-4 in nine minutes also adding two assists.

Garon and the Rams would maintain control of the second half as well as the junior forward put in 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, as two of her shots were good for three. Vienneau also collected eight points in the second half.

Newbury had two players record double-doubles in the contest as Catherine O'Connell finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Jalisa Fields had a team-high 13 points and also had 12 rebounds.

The Nighthawks held a slight edge in rebounds in the contest at 49-47, but it was the Rams' sharp shooting that made the difference as Suffolk shot 45.7 percent from the field, compared to Newbury's 27 percent.

The Rams will look to extend their winning streak on Wednesday as they host Johnson & Wales University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at 7:00pm at the Regan Gymnasium (weather permitting).
