Women's Basketball Picks Up Third Straight Win

Boston, Mass. - The Suffolk University Women's Basketball (10-8 overall) team picked up their third win in a row on Monday evening. The Rams topped the Newbury College Nighthawks (5-9 overall) by a score of 71-53.  Senior Laura Thompson (Kennebunk, Me.) picked up her third double-double of the season picking up 16 points along with 10 rebounds for Suffolk. Sophomore Kristina Hayner (Bedford, N.H.) led all scorers with 17 points, as she also had five steals in the game.

Freshman Catherine O'Connell (Quincy, Mass.) played a strong game for the Nighthawks as she led all rebounders with 16 boards and also picked up 14 points as she dominated the paint.

Sophomore Meghan Black (Roslindale, Mass.) put up 14 points as she reached double digits for the eighth time in her past nine games. Sophomore Mary Garon (Auburn, N.H.) picked up 10 rebounds, along with five points for the Rams, while freshman Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) had nine rebounds and seven points as Suffolk outrebounded Newbury, 58-39.

Junior Katelyn Mark (Quincy, Mass.) scored 12 points, going 6-for-10 from the field for Newbury.

Newbury will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to Wheelock College in New England College Collegiate Conference (NECC) action at 5:30pm. The Rams will travel to Johnson & Wales on Wednesday evening to take on the Wildcats in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at 7:00pm.
