Rams Drop Second Half Opener

Boston, Mass. - Suffolk University Women's Basketball (4-5 overall) dropped their first game in 2010 to Manhattanville College (7-4 overall), 75-43 on Wednesday afternoon. The Valiants used a monster second half outscoring the Rams 45-19 to pick up the win in non-conference play.

Junior Simona Gordon (Cambridge, Mass.) led all scorers with 16 points to go along with 9 rebounds. Manhattanville had four players reach double digits in points and also forced 28 Rams' turnovers in the game.  Junior Carey Hickey (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) had a game-high five steals, along with eight assists and five points.

Sophomore Julianne Conrad (West Bridgewater, Mass.) led the Rams with 12 points. Sophomore Mary Garon (Auburn, N.H.) had nine points.  Senior Laura Thompson (Kennebunk, Me.) had six points to go along with seven rebounds, while freshman Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) also had seven rebounds for the Rams.

The Valiants posted a 26-5 scoring edge in points off turnovers as their tight defensive pressure proved to be too much for the Rams. Manhattanville also held a 54-43 edge in rebounding.

Manhattanville will be back in action on Saturday as the host Wilkes University at 1:00pm in a Mid-Atlantic Conference matchup. The Rams open up their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play as they travel to cross-town rival Simmons College on Saturday at 1:00pm.
