Women's Basketball Fall to Emmanuel, 79-64

Boston, Mass. - The Emmanuel College Saints (11-4 overall, 2-1 GNAC) took down the Suffolk University Rams (6-7, 1-2 GNAC), 79-64 on Saturday afternoon at the Regan Gymnasium. Senior Iman Davis (Toms River, N.J.) led all scorers with 20 points and had 9 rebounds to give the Saints their second win of the season in conference play.

The Rams finished the game with three players reaching double-digits in points. Sophomore Julianne Conrad (West Bridgewater, Mass.) finished with a team-high 15 points, including connecting on three 3-point field goals for the Rams. Conrad also led the Rams with eight rebounds. Sophomore Meghan Black (Roslindale, Mass.) had 14 points and six rebounds, and also six blocked shots before fouling out. Sophomore Kristina Hayner (Bedford, N.H.) also finished with 10 points for Suffolk and had a team-high with five steals.

Emmanuel was able to control the tempo early jumping out to a quick 8-0 lead to start the game. The Rams managed to play the game tight in the second half but were never able to get closer than seven points.

The game was put away with five minutes remaining when Davis connected on a three-pointer to give the Saints a 65-51 lead, and then created a turnover on a steal going end to end for the easy lay-in to push the spread to 16 points.

Junior Kristin LeBel (Tolland, Conn.) finished the game with 17 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Breanna Ockimey (Philadelphia, Pa.) also had 12 points with five boards.

Emmanuel held the edge in rebounds for the game, 64-51.

Freshman Jaqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) and Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) each had seven points for the Rams.

Both teams will be back in GNAC action over the holiday weekend as Emmanuel hosts Rivier College on Monday at 1:00pm, while the Rams will play host to Saint Joseph College (Ct.) at 1:00pm on Monday at the Regan Gymnasium.
