Black, Dreiser Lead Rams to Victory

Boston, MA - Sophomore Meghan Black (Roslindale, MA) finished with 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Suffolk University Women's Basketball team (2-2 overall) to a 66-60 win over Colby-Sawyer College (2-2 overall) in the season home opener. Senior Mara Dreiser (Port Ewen, NY) also had 15-points for the Rams who finished with four players reaching double-digit point totals.

Charger's senior Terri Duffy (Marshfield, MA) made history as she connected on a 3-point field goal with 5:07 remaining in the second half to reach 1,000 career point plateau. Duffy becomes the 11th player in Colby-Sawyer program history to reach the milestone.

Suffolk came out the gates early led by freshman Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, MA) who scored nine of her 11 points in the first half to give the Rams a 34-27 lead going into the break. Rogers also had 6 rebounds in the half.

Colby Sawyer managed to come out strong in the second half coming out with an 11-2 run and retaking the lead. The Chargers led by as many as 4-points with 12 minutes remaining in the game.

Suffolk would later regain control as Black and Dreiser combined for 23 of the Rams 32 second-half points.

The big momentum shift came with as both Dreiser and freshman Jaqueline Vienneau (Salem, NH) had steals on back-to-back Charger positions that lead to fast break points for the Rams. Vienneau finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the Rams.

Freshman Sammi Lehr (Cohasset, MA) had a monster game on the glass for the Chargers finishing with 16 rebounds to go along with 8 points. The Chargers had three players reach double digits in points, including Duffy who finished with 17. Sophomore Maggie Rossi (Fairhaven, MA) and Taylor DeSanty (North Adams, MA) each had 14 points in the game.

Colby-Sawyer will be back in action on December 1st as they host Plymouth State. Suffolk will be back in action on December 2nd as they travel to Endicott College.
