Suffolk Women Win GNAC Opener

Boston, MA --  Meghan Tracey (Rehoboth, MA) had 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead her Suffolk Rams (1-0 GNAC, 7-4 overall) to an 81-39 rout of GNAC opponent Pine Manor (0-2 GNAC, 2-10 overall) Tuesday night at Suffolk's Regan Gymnasium.

Suffolk also received solid efforts from freshman Julianne Conrad (West Bridgewater, MA) and senior Kerry Bowman (Guilford, CT). Conrad finished her night with 14 points and eight rebounds on 6-14 shooting. Bowman chipped in with 12 points on 5-9 shooting.

Enjolee Phillips was the lone Gator player in double figures with ten points. Amanda Dennis had eight points, eight blocks and five rebounds for Pine Manor.

The Rams jumped out to a 19-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game and led 53-21 at the break. Tracey netted 12 points and grabbed ten rebounds in the half, as Suffolk's stifling defense forced 15 turnovers and gave itself a 29-12 rebound advantage. Suffolk shot 50% from three in the half.

Suffolk continued its strong defense holding Pine Manor to just 18 points in the second half and forced the Gators into 7-35 shooting from the field. The Rams led by as many as 46 points with under six minutes remaining before settling for the 42-point victory.

Suffolk plays again when they host St. Joseph's (Me.) Thursday night in a GNAC match up at Suffolk's Regan Gymnasium. Game time is at 7 pm.
