Freshman Julianne
Conrad’s (West Bridgewater, MA) 16 points and senior Meghan Tracey’s
(Rehoboth, MA) 14 rebounds helped Suffolk improve to 4-2 on the
season with a 57-47 home win over Endicott College (2-2) at Regan
Gymnasium in Boston Tuesday night.
Conrad shot 5-15 from the field and ended her night with nine
rebounds. Tracey went 4-11 from the field and added eight points.
Senior Kerry Bowman
(Guilford, CT) also reached double figures with 11 points. Ashley
Vitale led Endicott with 11 points.
The Rams defense played well once again as it held the Power Gulls
to just 32.7% shooting and 25 turnovers. Tracey was at the heart of
her team’s stifling attack as she picked up seven steals.
Bowman finished with four steals.
The Rams fought through a difficult first half taking a 28-25 lead
at halftime despite turning the ball over 13 times. Suffolk
committed just six turnovers in the second half and forced 12
turnovers.
Endicott made it 36-34 game with 14:58 left in the game when Nicole
Young assisted Kaylin Burke on a three-pointer. The two-point
deficit was as close as the Power Gulls would get for the remainder
of the game as Suffolk broke out on a key 12-4 run in six minutes
to take a 48-38 lead with under nine minutes left in the half.
The Rams kept up the pressure as they pushed the lead to 56-43
thanks to a jumper from senior Emily Duquette
(Harrisville, RI) with 3:16 to go. Duquette finished the game with
eight points and three assists.
Suffolk looks for its first three game winning streak of the season
when it hosts Curry Thursday night at 7 p.m.
