Rams Fall Short to Rivier 65-52

Nashua, NH --  Rivier College (10-5 overall, 2-1) GNAC used 40 minutes of stifling defense to take down the Rams of Suffolk University. The Raiders held the visitors to just 25% shooting from the floor (15 percent from 3 point land). Rivier meanwhile, shot 45 percent in the first half to take a 43-17 lead into intermission.

Rivier was led by by freshman Allie Parent's (Camden, ME) double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Jess Mellen (Rockland, MA) also tallied a double-double for the home team with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Suffolk was led by senior Kerry Bowman who dropped in a game-high 23 points. Freshman Meghan Black (Roslindale, MA) had a season-high 11 rebounds, and senior Meghan Tracey added 10 of her own.

Suffolk's defense came out and held Rivier to just 24 percent from the field in the second half, and outscored the Raiders 35-22, but were unable to close the gap from the first twenty minutes of play. Suffolk's 17 points in the first half were the fewest amount of points allowed by any defense in a half this year against the Rams.

The Rams play again this Monday as they host visiting Simmons College at the Regan Gymnasium. Game time is at 2:00 pm. (Schedule Note: the game was originally scheduled for 7:00pm but has been moved to 2)
