Cambridge, MA -- Freshman Julianne Conrad (West
Bridgewater, MA) had 21 points to help lead the Suffolk University
Women's Basketball team to a 58-46 victory on the road against
Lesley University. Kristina Hayner (Bedford,
NH) also added 10 points going 5-7 shooting from the field.
Suffolk took advantage of a Lesley squad that committed 18 turnovers in the first half as the Rams were able to outscore their opponents 29 to 18. Conrad was efficient from the field in the first half, as the forward hit 5-of-8 shots for 11 points in the period. Conrad currently leads the Rams on the season in scoring with an 12-points per game average.
Senior Meghan Tracey (Rehoboth, MA) had eight points on the night, and also grabbed 14 rebounds for Suffolk. Suffolk commanded the low-post as the Rams outscored the Lynx 26-6 in the paint. The Rams were also able to create fast-break opportunities off missed shots, scoring 12 points in that category.
For Lesley, sophomore Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) scored 10
of her team-high 14 points in the second half as she hit 3-of-6
attempts from the field. Wechsler was also 8-of-9 from the charity
stripe for the game.
Georgia Saltzman (Lynn, Mass.) netted all seven of her points in
the second half and also tallied two steals.
The win moves Suffolk to 6-4 on the season, while Lesley drops to 1-8. Lesley will next travel to Newbury College on January 10 for their first New England Collegiate Conference game of the season. Suffolk will host Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponent Pine Manor College on January 13.
