BEVELRY, Mass. – Suffolk softball's Avery Carvalho was named Conference of New England Rookie of the Week after helping the Rams open league play 4-0.
Carvalho, a freshman from Chester, New Hampshire, supplied two hits, two RBI, one run and two walks throughout the four-game week. The infielder's top performance was a two-hit, two-RBI- effort in the 12-2, six-inning, game two triumph at Gordon.
The weekly accolade is a first for Carvalho and is the first time a Ram was named the league's rookie of the week since Maddie Southers scooped up the award March 13, 2023. She is the second Suffolk student-athlete recognized with a weekly honor this season as Catherine Carignan was named CNE Player of the Week March 10.
Carvalho and Suffolk is back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, April 15 with a doubleheader at Endicott. Game one is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
