
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Suffolk softball was kept off the scoreboard as the Rams bats were limited to just three hits in an 8-0, five-inning setback to Ithaca Sunday morning at the DiamondPlex at The Spring Games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk fielding mishaps factored into nearly all of the Bombers runs including the pair in the first frame.
Ithaca went on to add one run in the second and third frames, respectively, before putting up four in the fourth to turn on the mercy rule.
Despite a lead-off walk by Lily Gustafson, the Rams offense never got going in the top of the fifth and the game was called via run-rule.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Cynthia Rucinski took the loss. The starter gave up four runs, one earned, on two hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 2.1 innings.
- Ashlyn Conely twirled 1.2 frames of relief. She let up four runs, three earned, on five hits and one walk with a pair of punchouts.
- Mady Rowell earned the decision behind a three-hit, two-walk, four-strikeout, 5.0-inning shutout.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Catherine Carignan, Ava Brandow and Avery Carvalho had one hit apiece.
- Carvalho's hit was good for two bases.
- Gustafson and Carignan each walked once.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk met Ithaca for the third time, third straight season.
- The Rams and Bombers have played one another on neutral diamonds only.
- Carignan has recorded a hit in all five games this season.
- Carvalho produced her first collegiate extra base hit.
