BOSTON – For the second straight season, Suffolk softball had multiple Rams earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors as Catherine CarignanElla Turnbull and Becky Zellin were all recognized by the national organization for their combined athletic and academic efforts.

Awarded by CSC, formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), to the most accomplished student-athletes for combined academic and athletic achievements each year since 1952, this is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athletic award for student-athletes to receive.

The 2024 Academic All-District Softball Team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. All nominees must have reached sophomore status academically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games or must have started in at least 66 percent of the program's contests. For pitchers, he/she must have made 17 appearances or pitched 25 innings. Each institution was allowed to nominate five qualifying student-athletes.

It is the fourth time in Suffolk softball history that a student-athlete has earned the academic all-district distinction. With three awards this season, the Rams softball program has seen 10 student-athletes in their history pick up the feat.

Suffolk was one of five Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) programs to be featured on the list of over 1,000 NCAA Division III student-athletes to take home the feat. Nichols had four honorees, while Curry had three like Suffolk. Endicott and Gordon were represented by one student-athlete apiece.

Carignan (3.833 GPA), Turnbull (3.585 GPA) and Zellin (3.841 GPA) all garnered the award for the first time in their collegiate careers.
