BOSTON – Coming off its 2-0 Play-In shutout of the University of New England, the sixth-seeded Suffolk softball team looks to carry that momentum into the double elimination bracket of the 2024 CCC Tournament, which gets underway for the Rams against third seed Nichols this afternoon. First pitch is approximately at 1:30 p.m. at the Golden Bears Softball Park.

SUFFOLK IN THE CCC TOURNAMENT

• Suffolk is in the midst of its third straight trip to the CCC Tournament. 
• The Rams are competing in the CCC postseason as the sixth seed for the first time. 
• Suffolk captured its first CCC Tournament win earlier today in the CCC Play-In Game over the University of New England. 
• The Rams are 1-2 when playing at Golden Bears Softball Park in the CCC Tournament.  
• Suffolk has never won a game in the CCC Tournament in the double elimination bracket. 
• The Rams are 1-0 in the Megan Cook era in the CCC Tournament. 

SUFFOLK IN CONFEREENCE POSTSEASON ACTION

• The Rams are in the middle of their 23rd trip to the postseason, third straight. 
• Suffolk owns one conference crown to its credit, the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) title in 1996. 
• Suffolk is the sixth seed in a conference tournament for the second time in program history, first in its CCC tenure and first since 2008, when it played as the sixth seed in the GNAC Tournament. 
• The Rams are 1-1 when playing in a league tournament as the sixth seed, and 1-0 in the CCC Tournament as the sixth seed. 
• The blue-and-gold has never hoisted a league banner when an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Tournament has been on the line.  

LAST TIME OUT
Lily Newhall commanded the circle and the sixth-seeded Suffolk softball took advantage of patience at the plate to eliminate seventh seed the University of New England from the 2024 CCC Tournament in shutout fashion, 2-0, Tuesday morning at Golden Bears Softball Park on the campus of Western New England.

BISON BREAKDOWN
Nichols enter the postseason as the third seed with a 22-18 overall record. The Bison split a non-conference twinbill with Framingham State to prep for the CCC Tournament.  

Offensively, Chloe Steiniger (34 H, 29 RBI, 14 R), Allie Silliman (41 H, 19 RBI, 23 R) and Erin Gour (38 H, 27 RBI, 25) are the top threats. 

In the circle, Olivia Pedro (107. IP, 2.88 ERA, 46 K) and Chelsea Indyk (99.0 IP, 2.47 ERA, 77 K) are the usual twirlers.  

WE MEET AGAIN
Nichols swept Suffolk in the regular season doubleheader April 13. The Rams slipped in eight-innings in game one, 4-3, and were bested in the nightcap, 4-1.
