CLERMONT, Fla. – Suffolk softball dropped a 5-1 decision to Ithaca on Friday at Legends Way at The Spring Games.
THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | Ithaca 5
RECORDS: Suffolk (5-6) | Ithaca (8-3)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk fielding mishaps and one Bombers' hit resulted in four Ithaca runs in the bottom of the second.
The Rams made up some ground in the fourth. Lily O'Neil sparked the offense with a single to third base and Ashley Hubner took her spot on the bags. The pinch runner swiped second and made her way in on Ava Brandow's double to center.
Ithaca got that run back in the bottom of the fifth. Haley Petrucci doubled down the left field line and put on her running shoes on Kailen Winkelbelch's single to right to extend the edge back to four.
Zeros were put up on both sides in the sixth to keep the blue-and-gold in a four-run hole.
The blue-and-gold's bats never got going in the seventh and the Bombers walked awy with the victory.
