Carignan Collects CCC Player of the Week

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk softball Catherine Carignan earned Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week after compiling a .455/.520/.500 slash line in a 3-3 week for the Rams.  

The Litchfield, New Hampshire native had 10 hits in 22 plate appearances, brought in four runs and scored three herself. The utility player has successfully hit in all six of the Rams games in 2024 to extend her win streak to seven games, dating back to May 10, 2023. 

The utility players standout showings came with back-to-back three-hit performances. The first game in a 9-3 win over Mitchell March 9 when she went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI. A day later, the right-handed hitter went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, one RBI, two walks and one stolen base in a 12-4 triumph against Mt. St. Mary. The three runs in a single outing tie a career-high for the sophomore. She provided one hit in the contests against Adrian, Westminster, Simpson and the 13-5, five-inning victory against Haverford.  

Carignan is the first Ram to take home a CCC weekly award since Maddie Southers was tabbed CCC Rookie of the Week March 13, 2023. She is the first student-athlete in blue-and-gold to be named the conference's best player in a seven-day stretch since Jolie Quintana swept the CCC weekly awards with both player and rookie status April 19, 2022. 

Suffolk is in the midst of its 12-game Spring Break trip. The Rams return to action tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12 with outings against Juniata and Milwaukee School of Engineering.
