Softball Sees 13 Earn Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors 

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Suffolk softball made history as 13 Rams received Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athlete honors, the national organization unveiled.  

The 13 Rams were among over 8,3000 collegiate student-athletes cross seven membership divisions to achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher in 2022-23. NCAA 

Suffolk's 10 honorees are the most in the Rams' record books, which has seen an individual in blue-and-gold recognized with the academic feat since 2013-14. Overall, 41 Suffolk student-athletes have combined for 80 NFCA Scholar-Athlete awards.  

The baker dozen Rams hail from every class. Graduate student Caitlin Murphy, senior Ally Cifaratta and juniors Ira Boci and Rebecca Gonzalez garnered the feat for the third time their careers, while sophomores Julia NewcombDiana Rucinski and Becky Zellin repeated as honorees. Junior Lily O'Neil, sophomores Ashlyn Conley and Ella Turnbull freshmen Catherine Carignan, Bella Rocha-Medeiros took home the distinction for the first time.  

The Rams are one of five Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) teams to have players earn the distinction. Roger Williams had the most recipients with 15 with Suffolk's 13 falling second in front of a dozen Golden Bears from Western New England. Endicott and Wentworth were represented by nine and seven student-athletes, respectively. 

Team wise, the Rams combined for a 3.633 team GPA, which is the 26th-best in NCAA DIII in 2022-23. Suffolk was one of two CCC teams to land within the top 100 in team GPA along with Wentworth who shared 94th. 

Suffolk appeared in the top 100 GPAs for the eighth time and second straight season.
