
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Suffolk softball saw its 2023 season came to a close Wednesday afternoon as the seventh-seeded Rams were blanked by sixth seed University of New England, 8-0, in six innings in an elimination game of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament at Golden Bears Park on the campus of Western New England.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Nor'Easters scored two in the first and one in the second and third, respectively, to hold a 4-0 lead after three complete innings.
A two-run homer from Kenzie Bessette in the fifth extended the edge to 6-0, before a two-run jack by Megan Chamberlain in the bottom of the sixth sealed the 8-0, six-inning victory for UNE.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Ava Brandow took the loss after giving up eight runs, seven earned, on 10 hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 5.1 frames of work.
- Mia Micucci completed a two-hit, two-walk, two-strikeout, 6.0-inning shutout.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Ally Cifaratta and Catherine Carignan were responsible for the Rams two hits as the senior and freshman each knocked one double.
- Cifaratta worked a walk as well.
- Ella Turnbull drew a base on balls also.
