
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Suffolk softball dropped a 9-2 decision to Jefferson Tuesday at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk scored first as Ally Cifaratta collected an RBI in the top of the first with a double to right center. The third baseman scored Maddi Southers, who led off with a walk.
Jefferson took the lead in the bottom of the second with two runs, but the Rams responded in the top of the third to level the playing field at 2-all. Savannah Scripter's base hit to left center plated Southers, who drew her second walk of the night, to even things up.
The Golden Rams rallied around a three-run bomb by Sam Gomez to put up six run home half of the third and recapture the lead, 8-2.
Suffolk stranded a pair of runners in the fourth before Jefferson added one run in the bottom of the inning to make it 9-2.
Neither team scored from there to keep the seven-run deficit intact.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Bella Rocha-Medeiros took the loss after allowing six runs, five earned, on five hits and three walks in 2.0 innings.
- Ella Turnbull threw 4.0 innings of relief and gave up three runs, two earned, on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
- Gianna DeLorenzo earned the win with 3.2 innings of scoreless relief with three hits and one walk allowed to go along with four strikeouts.
- Emily Akelaitis started and put together a two-run, six-hit, two-walk, two-strikeout effort in 3.1 innings.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Cifaratta led the way at the plate with a 3-for-4 effort that included one double and one RBI.
- Turnbull went 2-for-2 with both hits good for two bases.
- Scripter supplied two hits and one RBI.
- Ira Boci hdad a 2-for-3 effort.
- Southers scored two runs and drew two walks.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk will meet Jefferson for the first time.
- Turnbull notched a career-high in hits (2) and doubles (2).
