Softball Welcomes Five Newcomers for 2023

2023 SUFFOLK SOFTBALL ROSTER

BOSTON – Suffolk softball will get a boost from a handful of fresh faces as five Rams rookies joined the fold for the 2023 season, head coach Janet Maguire announced. 

The group features junior Lily O'Neil and true freshmen Catherine CarignanMaddie SouthersBella Rocha-Medeiros and Sophia Barker.  

"Four freshmen and a junior bring a combination of speed, power and athleticism to the 2023 Rams," Maguire said. "Each has impressed and shown growth, while preparing for the season."  

O'Neil is expected to add depth in the middle infield. Roacha-Medeiros will see time in the circle. Southers is expected to secure a spot in the outfield. Carignan fills a utility role and Barker will look to make an impact at the plate. 

The group joins 14 returners including fifth-year graduate student Caitlin Murphy and reigning CCC Rookie of the Year Jolie Quintana that helped Suffolk to a 20-20 overall record a year ago and a spot in the CCC Tournament.  

Suffolk's 40th season gets underway this Thursday, March 9 against Iowa Wesleyan at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, at 11:00 a.m. at the NMB Sports Complex.
