Quintana Earns NFCA All-Region Third-Team Selection

NFCA RELEASE

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Jolie Quintana of the Suffolk softball team picked up all-region recognition from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as the freshman was named to the Region II team Monday afternoon, the national organization unveiled.

A native of Lynn, Massachusetts, earned the distinction as a utility, non-pitcher after her breakout freshman campaign. The CCC Rookie of the Year was one of the most consistent contributors at the dish for Suffolk as she led the blue-and-gold in hits (44) including a team-best 14 doubles. The right-handed hitter, who appeared at the top of the line-up, brought in 22 runs behind a .379/.408/.526 slash line with 21 runs scored herself. The CCC Third-Team honoree was nearly perfect in the field, playing primarily at second with a .962 field percentage.

Quintana is the first Ram to grab an all-region honor since the trio of Taylor HolmesDelaney Sylvester and Payton Sylvester made history as with one accolade apiece in 2018. She is the youngest player to garner an all-region nod since Payton Sylvester's third-team distinction in 2018. Quintana was one of a dozen Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) student-athletes on the regionally list with the CCC making-up 24 percent of the Region II honorees.

Quintana helped Suffolk make its first CCC postseason appearance as the Rams built a 10-8 league ledger, good for the fourth seed. The blue-and-gold was tripped in in both of its games on the first day of the tournament to wrap up its season, its first under the guidance of Janet Maguire, 20-20 overall.
