Brandow Tabbed CCC Rookie of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Ava Brandow of the Suffolk softball team garnered Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week after providing all over the diamond in a 3-1 week for the Rams, the league office announced.

A freshman from Cranston, Rhode Island, she together a 1.00 ERA over 7.00 innings, was nearly perfect in the field and slashed .438/.43 8/.688 to be the conference's best rookie over a seven day stretch. She is the first Ram to take home the honor from the CCC and first pick up a league's best rookie status in a week's span since Alexa White did so March 9, 2020.

Brandow opened the week with a stellar performance against Emerson. In her first collegiate start, she tossed a complete-game two-hitter, with just one run allowed and a career-best eight strikeouts. She helped her cause at the plate with a 3-for-6 performance that featured one homer, three RBI and two runs scored. She wrapped up the week with another multi-hit game. She went 3-for-4 with three RBI in a 3-2 walk-off win over Simmons. Her third hit of the day was the most important as it brought in the game-winning run in the seventh.

Brandow and Suffolk will be back in action this weekend when it lifts the lid on its CCC campaign with two league twinbills against Gordon at East Boston Memorial Park Friday, April 1 before traveling to Nichols the following day, Saturday, April 2.
