Six Softball Players Pick Up NFCA/Easton Scholar-Athletes Honors

NFCA RELEASE

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Suffolk softball saw six of its student-athletes honored with Scholar-Athlete status from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) in conjunction with Easton, the national coaches organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

The six Rams were among a record-setting 8,800 student-athletes across seven membership divisions to achieve a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2020-21. NCAA Division III led the way with 2,375 student-athletes making the mark in the classroom. NCAA Division I and Division II followed with 1,982 and 1.727 honorees, respectively.

Suffolk's six honorees hail from every class. Senior Constance Phelan was the only blue-and-gold player to receive the distinction multiple times in her career with her third honoree, while classmate Hailey Cockroft, junior Kennedy Reyes, sophomore Ally Cifaratta and freshmen Ira Boci and Rebecca Gonzalez are all first-time recipients. As a squad Suffolk combined for a 3.321 grade point average over 2020-21, which ranked the 116th best in NCAA DIII. For a full ranking of DIII GPAs, click here.
