Roger Williams Defeats Softball in Game Two, Season Finale, 6-1

BRISTOL, R.I. – Suffolk softball's bats never got going and Roger Williams took advantage to take down the Rams, 6-1, in the nightcap of the twinbill Saturday afternoon at Paolino Field.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | Roger Williams 6
RECORDS: Suffolk (12-17) | Roger Williams (17-15)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk had just two base runners in the first three innings, both of who were stranded. Roger Williams on the other hand matched runs with the number of what inning it was in the third and third, respectively, to build a four-run cushion.

The Rams finally broke onto the board in the top of the fifth. Savannah Scripter led off with a single to right center and two batters later Ira Boci hit a base hit to right field. The throw in by the Hawks outfielder was off the mark, which allowed both runners to advance a base further. Thanks to that mishap by the hosts defense Caitlin Murphy's ground out to second earned the junior and RBI and eliminated the shutout.

Roger Williams had a response for Suffolk's scoring in the bottom of the sixth. The Hawks used three hits and a pair of Rams errors to stretch their lead to five, 6-1.

With five runs to make it, Brooke Cloak led off the seven with a double down the left field line. Lia Nocella retired the side from there to lock up the win for RWU.
