Westminster Defeats Softball, 5-0

CLERMONT, Fla. – Suffolk softball fell to Westminster, 5-0, on in its first of two games on its final day at The Spring Games at Hancock Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After two scoreless innings, the Titans put four runs on the board in the bottom of the third. Westminster scored the four runs on four hits and one Rams' error.  

Both teams retired the sides in the fourth and Suffolk stranded one in the top of the fifth to remain in the four-run hole after 4.5 frames.  

Westminster managed to add another run on a sac fly in the fifth with two outs before the Titans' administration made a call from afar to call the game due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has swept the nation. 

With 4.5 frames in the book and Westminster as the home team, NCAA rules designates that the result ends in favor of the Titans.   

PITCHERS PICTURE

  • Constance Phelan let up five runs, three earned, on seven hits and two walks with a pair of punchouts over 4.0 frames. 
  • Alexa White came in for 0.2 innings of scoreless relief. 
  • Madison Brown secured the decision after throwing 5.0 innings. She allowed just four hits and one walk with three strikeouts for the victory.

  • The Rams met Westminster for the second time, first since 2014.
