BOSTON – Suffolk softball will cap off its 2019 GNAC regular-season slate Monday, April 29 with a trip to Saint Joseph's (Maine). The Rams and Monks will open their conference double feature with a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk softball overcame a five-run deficit to force extra innings, but did not carry the momentum over and Johnson & Wales did to take down the Rams, 10-6, in the nightcap of a GNAC double feature Sunday afternoon at Robert Clemente Field.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk was swept in its weekend action by Johnson & Wales to dip to 19-16 on the year and 9-5 versus conference competition. 

The Rams rely on the bats of Caitlin Murphy and Jaclyn Flint to spark their offense. Murphy, who is the biggest threat on the bags with a conference-best 23 stolen bases, boasts a slash line of .424/.504/.525 with 42 hits, 11 RBI and 26 runs scored. Flint, meanwhile, has a team-high 44 hits and 26 RBI behind a .411 connection rate at the dish to go along with 22 runs scored.

In the circle, Suffolk cycles through the trio of Kennedy Reyes (72.2 IP, 3.18 ERA, 40 K, Hannah DelCervo (66.1 IP, 4.64 ERA, 43 K) and Constance Phelan (62.1 IP, 5.17 ERA, 36 K. 

MONKS MENTIONABLES
Saint Joseph's (Maine) is on an eight-game skid after falling in both outings of a doubleheader at Saint Joseph (Conn.) Sunday to move to 10-19 on the year and 8-6 in league action. 

Melodie Bailey's 34 hits lead the way for the Monks at the dish as the first baseman connects at a .391 rate for 15 RBI and 21 runs scored. Libby Pomerleau is also a threat at the plate with 26 hits on a .366 average to bring in 13 runs and score 22 herself. 

SJC bounces back and forth between a pair of arms; Kate Whitney and Caitlin King. In 84.1 innings pitched, Whitney has put together an ERA of 4.40 with 38 strikeouts, while King, who has worked 79.1 frames, holds a 6.26 ERA with 28 Ks.

  • Suffolk has rattled off four straight wins over Saint Joseph's (Maine) including an extra-inning, walk-off win over the Monks in the 2018 GNAC Tournament to move to 15-19 all-time versus SJC.
