Softball Falls to Arcadia in Six Innings in Spring Games Finale

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Suffolk softball concluded action at THE Spring Games Thursday night in a 9-1, six-inning setback to Arcadia at Fortune Road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk got on the board in the opening action as Ashley Zulla singled through the left side to score Caitlin Murphy, who led off the game with a walk, to gain a 1-0 edge.

The Rams one-run lead held until the home half of of the second when the Knights equalized the action at 1-all.

Arcadia slowly added to its advantage as it took the lead in the next inning and stretch it to three in the home half of the fifth. The Knights truly put the game away with a monster six-run sixth inning for the final 9-1 margin.

PITCHERS PICTURE

  • Three arms took the circle for the Rams with Hannah DelCervo starting the action. The senior gave up four runs, two earned, on six hits and three walks and fanned three hitters over 5.0 innings.

  • Constance Phelan (0.1 IP, 0R, 1H) and Kennedy Reyes (0.0 IP, 5R, 2H, 3BB) also saw action on the rubber.

  • Kylee Schwind went the full 6.0 innings from the Knights. She put together a one-run, one-hit, two-walk, 10-strikeout effort to pick up her second victory of the season.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Zulla brought in the lone Rams run as the junior catcher was responsible for Suffolk's only hit of the day.

  • Murphy scored Suffolk's only run. She was one of two Rams to draw a base on balls along with Jaclyn Flint.

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk and Arcadia met for the first time.

  • DelCervo started her first action of the season.
