WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Suffolk softball was handed its first loss of the season by a talent Gettysburg team as the Rams slipped to the Bullets, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Diamond Plex at THE Spring Games.
THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 0 | Gettysburg 3
RECORDS: Suffolk (3-1) | Gettysburg (4-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED
A true pitchers dual was present for the first six innings before Gettysburg broke open the action. Back-to-back errors by the Suffolk second baseman allowed the Bullets to put the first run on the scoreboard. A pitching change and two runs later, the Rams faced a three-run deficit in the middle of the sixth.
The blue-and-gold was limited to just one base runner in the sixth to remain in a three-run hole. Constance Phelan retired the side in the seventh to maintain the three-run distance, but the Rams were also sat down in order in the home half of the frame to make it a 3-0 game in Gettysburg favor.
