
EAST BOSTON – The Suffolk softball team fell just short of GNAC glory as the top-seeded Rams were defeated by second-seed Johnson & Wales, 4-2, Sunday afternoon at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
JWU got on the board in the first frame with one run before the Rams respond. Delaney Sylvester knocked a double before Ashley Zulla watched her ball fall over the center field fence to put Suffolk ahead, 2-1.
The Wildcats leveled the playing field in the third on a bases loaded, full-count walk. Ali Yamkaitis and the Rams kept JWU.
In the bottom of the fourth, Johnson & Wales grabbed a lead it would not relinquish with a pair of runs after costly Rams errors.
Down the stretch, Suffolk looked to make-up ground, but Jennifer Corona handled the Rams at the plate to lock up the Wildcats fourth straight win.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Yamaktiis suffered the defeat, slipping to 10-4 on the year after letting up four-runs on eight-hits and four-walks and two strikeouts.
- Corona improved to 16-6 thanks to a two-run, two-hit, two-walk and eight-strikeout effort.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Delaney Sylvester and Ashley Zulla produced Suffolk's hits, both of which went for extra bases.
- Zulla had two RBI.
