Softball Falls to Johnson & Wales in GNAC Championship, 4-2

EAST BOSTON – The Suffolk softball team fell just short of GNAC glory as the top-seeded Rams were defeated by second-seed Johnson & Wales, 4-2, Sunday afternoon at East Boston Memorial Park.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 2, Johnson & Wales 4
RECORDS: Suffolk (31-9) | Johnson & Wales (30-12)

HOW IT HAPPENED
JWU got on the board in the first frame with one run before the Rams respond. Delaney Sylvester knocked a double before Ashley Zulla watched her ball fall over the center field fence to put Suffolk ahead, 2-1.

The Wildcats leveled the playing field in the third on a bases loaded, full-count walk. Ali Yamkaitis and the Rams kept JWU.

In the bottom of the fourth, Johnson & Wales grabbed a lead it would not relinquish with a pair of runs after costly Rams errors.

Down the stretch, Suffolk looked to make-up ground, but Jennifer Corona handled the Rams at the plate to lock up the Wildcats fourth straight win.
