NASHUA, N.H. – The Suffolk softball team notched nine doubles over the course of two games at Rivier to sweep the Raiders Monday night at Raiders Field. Suffolk claimed the opener 7-1 and took the closer 10-0.

GAME 2 SCORE: Suffolk 10, Rivier 0
In Game 1, Suffolk started right from the get go with three runs coming in on the first frame. Jaclyn Flint's double to right start things off and Ashley Zulla's single pushed the sophomore to third. Zulla sniped second and Devlin Frost drew a walk to load the bags. A sac fly from Jill Pulek brought the first round before Delaney Sylvester scored the second with a sac fly of her own. Suffolk's second stolen base of the day placed Frost on second and Madison Eucalitto's two-out double through the left side made it a 3-0 Suffolk score.
Rivier trimmed the margin to two runs in the bottom of the third. The score held from there are three scoreless innings followed, but the Rams turned things up in the seventh, plating four runs to stretch their leading distance to 7-1. Back-to-back singles preceded a Raiders error that put all the ducks on the pond. Frost's double started the late rally, brining two Rams, and Rivier's second mistake of the day let another pair of Suffolk runs come home for the 7-1 deficit.
Three ground outs in the home half of the seventh sealed Suffolk's winning fate.
In the nightcap, Suffolk opened the scoring in the second and tacked on multiple runs in the fourth through the seventh and kept the Raiders off the board for the 10-0 victory.
McKenzie McGrath's single through the right side plated Lindsay Pagano, who reached on an error, to light up the scoreboard. Two innings later Sylvester's leadoff double was followed by a two base hit from Eucalitto with the second baseman collecting an RBI on the play. The junior came home two batters later thanks to a sac bunt from Pagano that put her in scoring position and a RBI single from McGrath.
Two innings later Rivier mistakes let two runners score and another pair of doubles brought two runners home in the sixth to make it a 7-0 contest.
The Rams put up the most runs in an inning in the seventh thanks to three RBI singles from Natalie McAllister, Sydney Littlefield and Zulla to go ahead by double figures. Suffolk secured the shutout as Hannah DelCervo fanned two batters to lock up the 10-0 victory.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Flint and Zulla produced three hits apiece in Game 1, going 3-for-4, respectively. Flint scored two runs, while Zulla crossed home once. Zulla also excelled at the dish in the nightcap with two hits for two RBI and two runs scored.
- Frost collected three RBI, three runs and four hits on the day.
- Sylvester led the way with RBI, scattering four across the two games.
- McGrath and Eucalitto added to the offense in each outing, but excelled in the closer. Eucalitto went 2-for-4 at the plate for two RBI and one run, while McGrath was perfect 2-for-2 to bring in two runs.
- In her single plate appearance in Game 2, McAllister brought in one run and added two runs to her stat line.
PITCHERS PICTURE
- Ali Yamakaitis went the distance in the opener. The junior let up one run on four hits and struck out six hitters in the 7.0 inning effort.
- Taylor Holmes earned the shutout win in game two with the junior going 6.0 frames of scoreless work and allowing just one hit to go along with five Ks and three walks.
- DelCervo came out of the pen to close things out, sitting down to batters and walking another in the final frame.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk extended its win streak to nine straight versus Rivier and improved to 9-2 all-time against the Raiders under Jaclyn Davis.
- The Rams swept the Raiders for the fourth straight season.
