BOSTON – The Suffolk softball team is set to hosts its first game of 2017 as the Rams welcome Curry and Simmons to East Boston Memorial Park. The Colonels stop by Eastie Tuesday, April 11 for a 4 p.m. contest, while Simmons travels across town Wednesday, April 12 for a 6 p.m. first pitch.

LAST TIME OUT
With the game locked at 1-all in the seventh Emmanuel got the walk-off win with an RBI double to right center to defeat the Suffolk softball team, 2-1, in the nightcap of the GNAC doubleheader at Clemente Field Sunday afternoon.

RUNDOWN ON THE RAMS
Suffolk had a 1-3 weekend that puts the Rams at 7-11 on the season and 1-3 in GNAC action. 

Jill Pulek has been a light in Suffolk's lineup as the designated hits .466 and slugs .841 for an on-base percentage of .477. The sophomore designated has 22 RBI and 13 runs on 29 hits, 14 of which came for extra bases, five of those went out of the park. Ashley Zulla (.390, 16H, 6 RBI, 10R), Sydney Littlefield (.359, 14H, 2 RBI, 8R) and Delaney Sylvester (.333, 18H, 10 RBI, 8R) all provide sparks at the dish for the Rams. 

Ali Yamakaitis continues to be the top arm for Suffolk. The junior boasts a 2.49 ERA in 59.0 innings with 40 strikeouts. Taylor Holmes has stepped up lately and enters the week with a 5.79 ERA in 42.1 frames with 29 Ks.  

CATCH UP ON THE COLONELS
Curry split its two-game series with Western New England picking up an extra-inning win to prep for Suffolk as the Colonels head into the week 10-12 on the year. 

Mikayla Lambert's bat is just under .400, coming in at .389 to go along with an on-base percentage of a.446 and a slugging percentage of .444 to lead the way for the Colonels. The junior has 14 RBI and six runs scored. Kevi Oatway has produced a team-best 18 RBI, hitting .364 and six runs scored. Marissa Bruno, who hits .354, leads the way in runs, scoring 15, and has brought in 11 others on 29 hits. 

Four different twirlers have seen significant time for Curry. Mikayla Lambert has the most action under her belt with the junior going 63.0 innings for a team-best 1.78 ERA with 22 strikeouts. Rebecca Black boasts a 2.60 ERA in 37.2 frames with McKenna Barlow (4.32 ERA) and Jordan Lizotte (6.11 ERA) rounding out the quartet. 

INSIDE THE SERIES
Suffolk has picked up the last three wins versus the Colonels, who lead the all-time series 20-10. 

EYES ON THE GAME

SHARKS SAYINGS
Simmons split its two doubleheaders this weekend versus Anna Maria and Norwich to move to 9-12 on the year and 4-4 against conference competition. 

Lauren Del Vacchio hits just under .400 to buoy the Sharks at the plate. The first-year bats .397, slugs .603 and holds an on-base percentage of .521 to lead the way, producing team-high numbers in hits (23) and runs (14) to go with six RBI. Alexandra Moleski and Alison Gauvin pace the pack in RBI, bringing in 12 and 11 runs, respectively. 

The Sharks have called on a number of pitchers this season. In one start and nine appearances, Bridget Garach holds a 2.33 ERA, throwing 24.0 innings and striking out 12 hitters. Tori Gomes, meanwhile, is the Sharks go-to starter and holds a 5.43 ERA through 38.2 frames of action. Juliet Nelson, who has an ERA of 5.19, has sat down the most batters, 14, while Alex Soqui sports the best ERA coming in at 1.35, but has worked the fewest innings, 10.1, of the Sharks' staff.  

INSIDE THE SERIES
Suffolk swept the doubleheader over Simmons last year to improve to 25-20 all-time versus the Sharks. 

EYES ON THE GAME

100 WINS
With the 11-6 victory at Salem State, Jaclyn Davis picked up her 100th win on Suffolk's bench. She is just the second coach in the Rams' 33-year history to eclipse the 100-win mark. Davis joins Elaine Schwagger (100-82) as the only two coaches in Suffolk's softball annals to win 100 games in their careers at the helm of the program. 

GNAC CORVIAS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Ashley Zulla
of the Suffolk softball team has been named the GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week after batting 0.625, slugging 1.375 and putting together a 0.667 on-base percentage during a doubleheader at Salem State Saturday, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

GNAC CORVIAS PITCHER OF THE WEEK
In the first week of action, Ali Yamakaitis threw her way to GNAC Corvias Pitcher of the Week March 13 with the junior going 2-0 in a pair of starts with a 0.54 ERA.
