
PROVIDENCE – The Suffolk softball team dropped its GNAC opener, falling to Johnson & Wales, 4-0, at SGM Athletic Complex Saturday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A pitcher's duel was present through the first three innings before the Wildcats opened the scoring with one run in the fourth. JWU stretched its lead to two in the next inning before putting a four-run distance between them and the Rams in the seventh with a pair of insurance runs.
A handful of pinch hitters attempted to pull of the comeback for Suffolk, who stranded one in the final inning, but could not muster a run to seal its setback fate.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- The Rams' two hits came off the same bat with Ashley Zulla knocking a pair of singles in her three plate appearances.
- Jaclyn Flint and Madison Eucalitto each drew a walk to reach base.
PITCHERS PICURE
- Taylor Holmes moved to 2-5 on the season. The junior threw a complete-game, letting up four runs on 11 hits with seven strikeouts.
- Jennifer Corona earned the win the circle. The hurler limited the Rams to just two hits in the 7.0 innings with four Ks and two walks.
