Davis Announces 2017 Softball Schedule

2017 SUFFOLK SOFTBALL SCHEDULE

BOSTON – Suffolk softball head coach Jaclyn Davis has announced the 2017 campaign with the Rams scheduled to pay 40 games with a trip to Arizona, as well as eight home doubleheaders at East Boston Memorial Park.

Suffolk's spring training tradition continues, but will take new roots in 2017 as the Rams will make their first mark in the Copper State at the Tucson Invitational. The journey to warmer weather, which marks Arizona as the fourth state the blue-and-gold will visit for the spring trip in the program's 33-year history, features five doubleheader days from March 11-16. Over the stretch, Suffolk is set to face Augsburg, Central Iowa, Dickinson, Eastern Connecticut State, Greenville, Hamline, Puget Sound Stevens Institute of Technology, Wisconsin La Crosse and Wisconsin Platteville.

The Rams return back to the Bay State March 24 for a double feature at Emerson followed by a pair of games on the Northshore at Salem State the following day. The two road swings precede two at home as Brandeis stops by East Boston March 28 for Suffolk's home opener and Norwich comes to Beantown for the first pitch of GNAC play April 1.

A stop by Rivier April 2 opens an action packed week for Suffolk, which hosts Curry April 4 and Johnson & Wales April 8 at the friendly confines of Memorial Park.

Three-doubleheaders over a seven day stretch continue into the next week with trips to Emmanuel (April 9) and Saint Joseph's (Maine) (April 15) sandwiching a mid-week matchup at home versus Simmons (April 12).

From there, Suffolk will hit the road the next two Wednesdays, stopping by St. Joseph (Conn.) (April 19) and close out its road schedule at Albertus Magnus (April 26). In between the trips, the Rams host back-to-back twinbills over the weekend, welcoming in Mount Ida (April 22) and Lasell April 23.

Suffolk's regular season comes to a close on Senior Day April 29 versus Anna Maria.

The GNAC Championship Series is scheduled May 5-8 at the regular-season champion's home field.

Davis, who enters her fifth campaign at the helm, graduated just two seniors from the winningest team in Suffolk softball history. The Rams knocked home 33 wins for a 33-9 overall record and the team's second straight GNAC regular season title with an 18-4 league ledger. The 2016 GNAC Coach of the Year welcomes back five All-GNAC honorees including Jill Pulek, a first-team All-NFCA Northeast selection and Delaney Sylvester, an All-NFCA Third Team honoree.
