NFCA Honors Nine Softball Players as Division III Easton/NFCA Scholar Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its 2015-16 Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athletes with nine Suffolk players on the list, the national organization announced Tuesday night.   

The Rams' nine selections, which is comprised of members from all classes, are the most in recent years, topping Suffolk's seven scholar-athletes in 2015-16. Suffolk is also one of four GNAC teams to have players earn the distinction, with the Rams and Johnson & Wales earning the most recognition with nine apiece. Lasell and Simmons were also represented on the list with eight and seven student-athletes, respectively. 

The NFCA announced 5,152 softball players who earned Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors by achieving a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the 2015-16 academic year, which goes across seven membership divisions. NCAA Division III, with 1,124 honorees, had the second-most student-athletes with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher, while 1,240 in Division I earned the most recognition, followed by X963 Division II student-athletes. 

Devlin Frost, Sydney Littlefield, Elissa Mogauro and Ali Yamakaitis all earned the distinction for the second time in their careers, while Meredith Ball '16, Taylor Holmes, Nicole Isakson '16, Evelyn Marquis and Dylan Parsons picked up the honor for the first time.
