BOSTON – After helping lock-up first-place and the regular season GNAC title, Evelyn Marquis garnered her second GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week accolade of the season, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Thursday afternoon at Anna Maria, Marquis accounted for four of her team's six runs, recording four RBI and leading Suffolk to a 6-2 victory. Over the weekend, the Oxford, Massachusetts, native combined for two hits and three runs scored in Suffolk's back-to-back wins over Rivier.
The freshman accumulated a .600 slugging percentage and a .600 batting average over the course of the three games, all of which were victories for the Rams. In 27 games played so far this season, Marquis is batting .355 with 16 RBI and 15 runs scored.
Her second rookie accolade of the season marks Suffolk's fifth total weekly award with classmate Jill Pulek also being recognized twice as the best rookie over a seven day stretch and Devlin Frost picking up player of the week distinction.
Suffolk, who earned the GNAC regular season title for the second straight year, will play host to the conference tournament this weekend.
