Pulek Earns Second GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – For the second time this season, Jill Pulek of the Suffolk softball team has been recognized by the conference as the freshman was named the GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. 

Pulek had a tremendous six games during the Rams' three doubleheader weekend, batting .556, slugging 1.000 and producing a .619 on-base percentage. She buoyed the Suffolk offense against Albertus Magnus, with two hits, both two RBI homers. The freshman became the first Ram to produce to jacks in the same game since Erin McAndrews did so in a 15-4 win over Mount Ida April 14, 2013. The Cheshire, Connecticut, native had eight total RBI over the six games, as well as 10 hits, four for extra bases.

Pulek's second nod of the season marks the fourth weekly award of the year for the Rams. Classmate Evelyn Marquis was tabbed the league's best rookie seven days after Pulek's recognition and Devlin Frost earned her first collegiate weekly award last week. 

The Rams, who stand at 16-6 overall and 7-3 in the GNAC, takes one day off before its second stretch of three straight double features as Suffolk takes on Norwich, Simmons and Salem State starting on Tuesday.
